Product development engineers are responsible for developing from concepts and taking them from initial design and prototyping through commercialization. He/ she assess the mechanical design properties of the product and determine if it has met the desired standards and functionality.

He/ she involves from conceptualization to final product. Before the final product, product development engineers must determine the materials, parts needed to create the product, potential designs, potential buyers for the product, and how the product can be marketed.

• Develop preliminary target value. (cost, mean-time between failure, delivery, lead-time)
• Review the competitive evaluation strengths and weaknesses relatives to the customer priorities.
• Define quality control criteria and safety guidelines.
